Protecting Your Own Eyes

As of December 15th, 2006, customers will be required to bring their own protective eyewear for their tanning session.

Why Are We Doing This?

Proper eyewear sanitation is critical due to the risk of infectious diseases that can be transferred easily from one user to another. Although we are very good about properly cleaning our indoor goggles, and we have never had a complaint about unsanitary goggles, it is good practice among high quality tanning salons to require their customers to use their own tanning bed goggles. It is more sanitary and for your own protection. Among other potential infectious diseases, conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, is the most commonly transmitted disease.

There is no guarantee that each pair of goggles will be sanitized for the proper length of time because it gets very busy at some tanning salons, and because some people steal them on a weekly basis, at times there is a shortage and employees scramble to clean eyewear.

Are We Trying To Make Money From This?

Absolutely not. to eliminate the chance of our customers getting a transferable disease such as conjunctivitis, we no longer offer ‘community' tanning bed goggles.

If you do not have your own, we have them available for purchase in the salon ($2.99 for Peepers reusable, or $0.75 for Winkease disposable). California state law requires that you use protective eyewear when tanning indoors. Failure to use protective eyewear while in the tanning bed can cause serious long term eye damage.
